Diagnostic Paraspinal Ultrasound
American College of Radiology, Digest of
Council Actions, (Res. 55, 1995)
"The use of diagnostic spinal ultrasound for the evaluation
of pain or radiculopathy syndromes (facet joint and capsules,
nerve and fascial edema, and other subtle paraspinous
abnormalities) currently has no proven clinical utility as a
screening, diagnostic or adjunctive imaging tool."
American College of Chiropractic Radiology position statement also found its use inadequately studied and its routine application for the purpose of paraspinal evaluation in the adult spine.
